I heard about this new online mapping site over at Scobles site.  The user interface on Map24 is superb.  It seems very intuitive to me. Take a look, I think you will like it.

http://www.us.map24.com/

Try out these features:

  • Zoom window Control - the small window that appears in the lower right corner.
  • Drag a rectangle in the main map window.  Watch the map center and zoom dynamically.
  • Click the measure distance button on the tool-bar. Note the dynamic loading of the tool.  Now click once to start measuring.  Click again.  Click again.  Sweet!

Try the Calculate Route button.  After you enter both addresses you will be asked for more information on how to plan the route.  Now that you have your map you will see a list of map instructions on the left side.  So far this the same as all map software.  Click on one of the printed instructions however and see what happens.  Instant zoom to the portion of your route on the map.  This is very cool.

There is probably more features that I haven't seen yet.  What did you find?

See ya later Yahoo maps and Mapquest. It was nice knowing you.

Now I have to ask... where is the .Net or Avalon version of this.  It seems that a similar application could be written with Microsoft technologies.    What do you think?
