Today is the first day of the annual Microsoft Authors summit.  Microsoft has dozens of these technical conferences every year.  Next month, for instance, they will host the MVP summit.  The purpose: to reveal details and features from the next generation of software from Microsoft. To prepare the software industry - at least the portion of the industry that works with Microsoft products - for what is coming.  To build buzz.  Create excitement.  You get the idea.

The Authors Summit gathers together technical authors from all around the globe for a four day road-show. The main focus this week is .NET 2.0, Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and many of the new server products.  This is the biggest authors meeting I've attended, over 350 writers in attendance this week.

I had to sign the obligatory non-disclosure agreement this morning so I don't know how much I'm will be allowed to write about.  We'll see...
